"O Mar de Antônio Peregrino" tells the fascinating story of the pilgrim Antonio Conselheiro and the village of Canudos. In a region feared by its long droughts, thousands of outcast peasants and Indians came together to build a country utopia. The city has been wiped off the map three times but refuses to die. The film is a journey in search of the people and dreams of Canudos. Guided by Antônio Conselheiro's famous phrase “The drought will turn into the sea, and the sea will turn into the drought”, the film goes through the drought and the flood to meet a warm and strong people who never surrendered, cherished with the music of hope and missing.

Although the word "jazz" came into use only in 1913, this music, distinguished by its loudness, audacity, and riot, was heard on the streets of New Orleans at least ten years earlier. Jazz possessed special rhythmic energy never seen before in folk music. In addition, jazz was bold and unpredictable - the same song sounded different with each performance, and this only made jazz attractive. The musicians improvised, following the inspiration and adapting the melody to the sounds of other instruments playing with them on stage.

Thylacine Footage

The original film of the Tasmanian tiger (also known as the thylacine) was shot by Australian zoologist David Fleay in 1933 on black-and-white film. Recently, this historic footage has been colorized and digitized by a team of international experts. You can watch the remastered footage of the last-known surviving Tasmanian tiger here. The thylacine, which resembled a medium-to-large-sized canid, had dark transverse stripes radiating from the top of its back. Sadly, the last known thylacine died in 1936 at the Hobart Zoo in Tasmania.
