Ancestors

Ancestors is a film about spiritual forefathers and mothers in a purely fanciful sense. These are classical figures, anatomical figures, fairy tale figures and romantic figures all thrown in together - all my creative root-sources, in a kind of playful tribute. Like part 2 of Duo Concertantes, it's a moving single picture, now doubled.

A man fakes an engagement to a typist to please his rich aunt.

The Monkey's Paw

Adapted from the story by W.W. Jacobs, this is a classic horror tale in which a monkey's paw holds magical powers and grants the bearer three wishes. Unfortunately, you get what you wish for, and unwise or poorly worded wishes can lead to catastrophe as it does in this story.

Encountering predators who all wish to eat him - Fox, Owl and Snake - the brave mouse creates a terrifying, imaginary monster to frighten them away. But what will the mouse do when he meets this frightful monster for real?

Isabella

This film aims to capture the stories of the aging Isabella, but also captures her condition and loss of cohesiveness as she loses herself into dementia and Parkinson's. It is also a very personal film since the subject is the grandmother of one of the co- directors. The idea is interesting as it links one strong clear memory, told several times, to other fragments and truths of her condition. Animation is sparingly but cleverly used to complement the delivery and avoid it just being a talking head.

Candidature

Jean, a young Parisian philosopher, travels to Angoulême to take part in a recruitment competition for the National Education. On the bus, he meets two other candidates, Pauline, an unscrupulous young woman, and Luc Dunoyer, a brilliant specialist of Descartes. The presence of the latter, who has never failed an exam, makes Jean lose all his means. But Dunoyer has fallen asleep on the bus.

She's So Cold

A bitter film director is forced to explain why her latest film, 'She's So Cold', reflects worrying ideas about relationships and men. Reluctant to cooperate, she hijacks the interview and propagates her own twisted perspective on life.
