Thirty-five years after their first meeting, which would change their lives, Argentine guitarist Lucio Yanel and his Brazilian pupil Yamandu Costa reunited to redo, on a trip, the paths that originally led Yanel to the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. Aboard a motor home, with his guitars and memories, master and disciple cross the border of Brazil towards Corrientes, the Argentine's homeland, reflecting on the transformations brought about by the inexorable passage of time.

A Reno singer witnesses a mob murder and the cops stash her in a nunnery to protect her from the mob's hitmen. Treating a trumpet as if it was a portion of fish and chips is not basic culinary research but an audio-activistic intervention that lends a voice to British fishermen’s opinion towards Brexit. And the title ‘audio activist’ is very fitting for the British composer Matthew Herbert. ‘A Symphony of Noise’ provides an insight into Herbert’s thoughts about how we should hear the world and presents amplified sounds of teeth being pulled out, a pig being born, and a swimmer crossing the English Channel. The controversial and political samples become a part of a live performance at the Berlin night club Berghain, which makes the listeners both grate their teeth and dance along. Matthew Herbert wants us to listen to the world afresh, and it is a pretty fantastic experience.

Robert Randolph Live At Nice Jazz Festival

Robert Randolph is an American musician, a master of the pedal steel guitar, greatly influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan. The US Rolling Stone magazine designated him as one of the 100 best guitarists in the world in 2003. The following year he appeared in the 'Crossroads Guitar Festival' DVD and opened Eric Clapton's World Tour. The latest project by Robert Randolph and The Family Band, 'We Walk This Road', is a celebration of Afro-American music over the last one hundred years and reflects the cultural background of Robert Randolph, who began playing music in church. For the Nice Jazz Festival, his programme includes original compositions and covers (Bob Dylan, Prince, John Lennon and Blind Willie Johnson), all in a festive and celebratory spirit.
