They say the chase is as much fun as the catch, and goodness knows we spent some time running this winter. It’s years like this when you figure out what your riding partners are made of. Despite the lack of snow across most of western North America, the Boondockers crew managed to pull off one of our most memorable seasons to date. We hit the road in exploration of new riding locations off the beaten path and we sniffed out every potential storm like a bloodhound on a fresh scent, leaving no powder caches or technical lines untracked. The result were some of the most incredible terrain and footage ever captured in a sled film. Join us for the highs and lows of a challenging season with plenty of deep powder, big drops and jumps, and the endless pristine backcountry riding that you have come to expect from the Boondockers crew. This short film retraces the life of Herman Smith Johannsen – the man who introduced the sport of cross-country skiing to Canadians. From past to present, his life story is portrayed through pictures from sports newsreels, Norwegian archives and his family album. The film catches up with him at both the Canadian Ski Marathon, where he is the honoured guest, and on a return trip to his native Norway.

From the lower St. Lawrence, a picture of whale hunting that looks more like a round-up, with a corral, whale-boys and all. In 1534, when he stopped at the island he named l'Île-aux-Coudres, Jacques Cartier saw how the Indians captured the little white beluga whales by setting a fence of saplings into off-shore mud. In the film, the islanders show that the old method still works, thanks to the trusting 'sea-pigs,' the same old tide, and a little magic.
