Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby return as hosts whilst Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean return to mentor the celebrities. This series saw a huge revamp of the show which included the show moving from Elstree to Shepperton Studios, acquiring a new look set, and was broadcast in high definition for the first time on ITV1 HD, STV HD and UTV HD. Nicky Slater did not be return to the show, however, the other judges from previous years returned, though Karen Barber served as Head Coach instead of a judge. This series the judges' scores were out of 10.0 instead of 6.0 giving an overall total out of 30.0. The line-up was revealed on 18 December 2010 and consists of sixteen celebrities. In each of the first two shows, only eight couples skated, with two of them being eliminated. These first two shows were billed as a qualifying stage, with twelve of the couples going through to the main competition, which started on 23 January. In another twist to 30 January show the two celebrities with the lowest combined total of judges' scores and public votes competed in the skate-off as usual, but it was not the judges that decided who stayed but their fellow celebrities who had to decide and gave their reason live on air.

Dancing on Ice returned for a seventh series on 8 January 2012 on ITV. Phillip Schofield returned as host, with new co-presenter Christine Bleakley. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean returned to mentor the celebrities, with Karen Barber returning as Head Coach. This series also saw a new ice panel, made up of Head Judge Robin Cousins and two new judges Louie Spence and Olympic figure skating champion Katarina Witt. The show moved back to its original location of Elstree Studios, which was used during the show's first five series, but still used the same layout as introduced in last series. On 24 January 2012, it was revealed that the 12 remaining couples would be going head-to-head in individual skating battles, where each couple were paired up and take to the ice at the same time performing their own routine to the same song. The ice panel then decided out of the pairs which couple they thought skated best, automatically guaranteeing them a place in the following weeks show. At the end of the battles the six that were not chosen faced the public vote, where one left the competition. Matthew and Nina emerged victorious at the end of the series on 25 March 2012, with Jorgie and Matt finishing as runners up and Chico and Jodeyne coming in third place.
2012

Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley returned as hosts, with Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as mentors to the celebrities. Louie Spence and Katarina Witt left their roles as judges and were replaced by Jason Gardiner, Ashley Roberts, and Karen Barber. Robin Cousins returned as head judge. It was revealed that at the end of the 13 January show that the duel would return, this saw two couples go head-to-head on the ice at the same time performing different routines to the same song, the judges then decided which one will be immune from the public vote.
