Working at the Mound of Sound recording studio, Lisa had fantasies of becoming a rock star, though she knew that it was unlikely. She and her husband of eight years, Jack, who ran a struggling sports good store, had two children, seven-year-old Danny and four-month old Delilah. To complicate their lives, Lisa's crabby mother, Gloria and her cheery sister, Gloria were frequent intruders in their lives. At work, she had to deal with her boss, Chandler, who frequently made stupid commercials.

She's the Sheriff is an American sitcom created by Dan Guntzelman and Steve Marshall. Aired in syndication for two seasons from September 1987 to April 1989, the series stars Suzanne Somers as Hildy Granger, a young woman whose husband, the sheriff of fictional Lakes County, Nevada, is killed by a drunk driver. Now widowed with two teenage children to support, Hildy accepts the county commissioner's offer to appoint her as sheriff, despite her lack of relevant experience. Clarence is a 1988 BBC situation comedy starring Ronnie Barker and Josephine Tewson, written by Ronnie Barker under the pseudonym "Bob Ferris". It was Barker's final sitcom appearance before his retirement. Barker had previously faced some criticism over his employment of a stammer for comedic effect in Open All Hours. However, the slapstick potential of a short-sighted furniture shifter must have seemed irresistible. The series was inspired by The Removals Person by Hugh Leonard, an earlier programme in the 1971 LWT comedy series, Six Dates With Barker. The house of Jane Travers, which inspired the opening titles, is located on Malvern Road in Cheltenham.
