Over the course of one winter, this 4-part documentary series observes an intensive care unit at Berlin's Charité hospital, at the height of the pandemic to date. The films offer an intimate insight into a world on the threshold between life and death, unknown to most. Around the clock, the staff on Ward 43 fight to save the lives of those seriously ill with the novel Coronavirus. Up close and without commentary, "Inside Charité: Covid-ICU 43" tells the story of this struggle in a microcosm that knows neither day or night, populated by glaring lights and beeping machines. Despite high-tech intensive care and immense personal dedication, the staff repeatedly come up against the limits of their human abilities. They are confronted with a completely new disease that can damage the entire body and defies tried and tested therapies. Isolation Stories

A series of four short dramas depicting life in lockdown. Each episode will be 15 minutes in duration and will reflect what families are going through after weeks of isolation. The series will be filmed observing the strict rules of lockdown with actors and their families filming the scenes themselves watched remotely by the directors. Each of the directors — Paul Whittington, Paul Andrew Williams, Louise Hooper and David Blair — will be watching footage via their mobile phones and giving advice to the actors and their family members about camera positioning, scene composition and lighting as they record the scenes.

In 2029, just as we have learned to live with seasonal variants of Covid, a new variant of the plague bacillus is discovered in this southern city. With no treatment available, the central government decides to seal off the city and implement a mysterious "Plan D" with monstrous consequences in order to spare the rest of the country.
